I visited QLD Spinners and Weavers a few years ago. I enjoy the welcoming group of people and wealth of knowledge and skills everyone shares. I joined the group and now attend regularly and learn new skills at workshops. Well worth a visit if you are crafty or want to know where to start

Went along to the Spinners and Weavers Guild open day on Saturday. It is an annual event. It was really terrific! Really well laid out marques in the grounds and two big buildings full of displays and merchandise too.Out the back there was a lovely area for morning and afternoon tea. They served homemade cakes and savouries along enthusiast tea and coffee. The tables were laid out with fresh flower pots and tablecloths. This made for a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a sit down.Clean toilet facilities available. It was an all-round pleasure to spend some hours at this event that features lots of demonstrations and even a fashion parade. Also good to be able to purchase any craft supplies that one wanted or just look at the beautiful work that so many of the talented ladies have done. The Guild mainly features felting, macrame, knitting, crochet, basket weaving, dyeing and paper making. They run workshops if you're interested in any of these crafts. They operate all through the year except a month off and you can join as a member. A really terrific outing!

Though it is easy to obtain technical information from a variety of sources, what comes from listening to people who are passionate in relation to their artistic practice is rewarding to the soul. Though new to the group I have been embraced, enjoyed good conversation and the nibbles would get the OK from the CWA.
